Spread the Love (NaGaWriMo Day 6)

Day 6 of National Game Writing Month! These game concepts are silly one-offs that will never be considered for production. If you’re inspired by one, feel free to use it, but it would be nice if you told me!

Spread the Love is combo building game in which you increase not just your own happiness, but everyone else’s as well by giving out hugs.

Presented in a 2D side scrolling format, you move left and right using the action button to hug. The difficulty comes in building your combo hug as some people are more open to random people hugging them. Various different types of people will affect your combo differently; some adding a +1 or +2, some requiring a longer hug and therefore changing up the flow and others who will break our combo with their bad mood. However, as you spread more love and build a higher combo you hugging power increasing and eventually even the most stubborn of hug haters will help you spread the love.

Want to do your own NaGaWriMo? It’s fine if you start late. It’s a made-up challenge. If you write a good one and include the hash-tag!
